Interview with Sunny
Brief summary:
Sunny and I are friends since high school, though we were in different high schools. In this interview, Sunny talked about how he spent his second senior year( "the half-year vacation" ), about what he had planed to do, what he actually has done, and what he had not accomplished. And throughout the whole interview, I find that Sunny might be the first type of students who have had this half-year vacation. For the first type of students, they indeed spend their time happily, but perhaps not very efficiently, since they finally haven't accomplished the learning or activity plans which they are ambitious to do at first. So at the end of the vacation, they may realize that they have wasted a lot of time and feel upset and depressed. Also, when they get to university, they may find more hard to adjust the college life than other students because they've just spent little time studying and learning in the last half year. Therefore, the half-year vacation may have more negative influences than the positive on the first type students. |
I met Sunny at Duc. And as the dinner began, my interview started as well. " When did your first semester of the senior year end?" I proposed my first question to him. "I think it was in January, but I can't remember the exact date, sorry." Sunny " That's ok. So after that you began enjoying your half-year vacation, ha? You must have done a lot of fun things with the time at your own disposal. Did you have any plans to do at first like learning a skill or doing some volunteer work?" I asked. " Yeah, as the half-year vacation began, I was totally relaxed. I just remember that I usually get up at 11am and had my breakfast and lunch together since during the two and half year sin high school my sleep was severely deprived I usually slept only 7hours per day. Oh, and in terms of the plans, I just feel a little bit shameful because I've just accomplished little. At first, I planed to learn a new language, learn how to play guitar and also learn how to drive and get the driving license. However, now it turns that I've only accomplish one thing, that is getting my driving license. " He replied. "That's already pretty cool. At least you can drive now." I said to him. " But now I just feel upset and regretful about how I spent my half-year vacation. I think I could have done something more meaningful than just wasting time in playing computer games at home or hanging out with friends all day. You know what, sometimes my friends and I just spent all day and night outside. We went to the cinema, the KTV and also the game centers. Although you might feel really fun and excited then, after the day had gone and friends had left you just felt very empty and lonely. So you just wanted to have one more day like that. And that was just a vicious circle." He seemed a little bit gloomy. " That's true however…Anyway, I believe besides playing games and hanging out with friends., you must have done some other things, like traveling and playing sports, have you?" I tried to explore more about his half-year vacation. " Yeah, I have been to many places during the half-year vacation. In February and May , I've been to Hainan and Huangshan with my mom. And in the summer, I've been to Europe. You know I'm a big fan of Kaka. And you can guess how happy and excited I was when I got the …….. in Milan. That was a fabulous experience. And also I did a lot of sports during that period, like soccer, you know how I love playing soccer. Besides, I also had a couch to teach me how to play tennis. And I spent a lot of time in improving my tennis playing skills. Overall, maybe my vacation can be concluded in one sentence" Play hard." in both meanings-- play computer games hard and play sports hard, haha." He laughed. " Ah, your conclusion is really appropriate, haha. So how do you think your half-year vacation has influenced you now?" I asked him the last interview question. " I think because I haven't studied and learned regularly during that time, I feel kind of difficult to catch up the pace of my college courses. Maybe I just need more time to adjust the college life. So you can see that you may enjoy your time for a period, but you may not enjoy forever." He said. "Yes, it is said that you must pay what you've got. So now you just pay it later. Just be ethumsiastic and confident of the courses you've selected and study hard now, not just play hard. I believe you will feel much better soon. Good luck!" |
