Interview with Li and Amber
Brief summary:
Before I had this interview with Li and Amber, we were just friends and did not know each other well. However, by chatting and sharing stories with each other throughout the whole interview, three of us felt more closed to each other and became best friends. Comparing to Sunny, Li and Amber were more positively influenced by the half-year vacation. As Li said, the half year vacation was a good transition for her from high school to university. It helped her better adjust to the college life. Under the education system and cramming method of teaching of her high school, she had little free time to do what she like. She could barely developed her own interests and displayed individuality. However, in the university she choose courses according to my interests. Also, she has to plot out my free time properly in an attempt to improve my study efficiency. She thinks that she would not have adjusted to the college as she do now if there was no such a half-year vacation, because she just doesn't know how to properly plan all the things by her own after being planned by others more than two years. Moreover, Amber thinks that this vacation was also very important for her family because it allowed her to spend more time with her family, her parents. Since in high school she usually went to school at 7:30 AM and stayed there till 10:00PM, she had a very little time to be with her parents, to talk with them or dinner with them. However, during the vacation, her family just spent a lot of happy time together, such as traveling, doing some outdoor activities together or just sitting together watching TV. She feels whatever they did, what really matters is she spent the time with her family. |
Hearing the knocks at the door, Amber came and opened the door for me. Both Li and Amber greeted me with a sweet smile. I came into their room, just sit on the carpet and then began my interview.
"What was the time you no longer had to take any classes in high school?" I asked Li. " January 7th." She replied. "It must be very relaxed and excited then, ah? How did you feel when that half-year vacation began?" " Of course I felt much more relaxed and comfortable. I mean, you know that how stressful every single Chinese student is during their high school years. Tons of homework, quiz, tests and exams. And also they have to cope with the peer pressure. Everyday I was totally exhausted and desperately wanted to go bed and sleep. So this half-year ' vacation' is a wonderful relaxation that saved me from the high-school infernal, haha." "Yeah, who has experienced the Chinese high-school life will indeed love and cherish this half-year 'vacation'. And... so what mainly did you do during this vacation? I mean, did you make any plan, such as learning a skill or do some volunteer work or something?" I responded to Li. "Yes, I did. Actually I think I had a very healthy vacation, because I've done much exercise, like swimming, running, bicycling and playing tennis. Ah, also I learned how to drive from April to July and now I've already got my driving license. Cool, aha?" "So did I. I can also drive now. It is amazing when you drive a car on the roads." Amber interjected. "Oh, I'm so envious of you! I can't drive... Ok, then have you two go some places for travel?" I looked at both of them. "Yes, of course. Both of us have been to Chengdu for several days in this summer, but not together. And food there is reaaaaally fantastic so that both of us have fattened up." They giggled. "Ha, really? You've been to Chengdu? You know what it is so near to my hometown Chongqing, also a heaven full with delicious food like hot pot. You must come to Chongqing next summer. And I will guide you to explore the food city! Also, the night scene of Chongqing is amazing. Since there are two rivers crossing through Chongqing, when night comes the light of the buildings and bridges plays on the waves. And the rivers ripples and sparkles. " " Wow, so beautiful and attractive as you're describing, Sure, we will come! Er..And this summer I've also been to Shanghai and Suzhou, though I've been there before." Amber said so. "Cool, I've also been to the two places before. Then what else did you do in the vacation?" I continued asking. "Let me think... I think the rest of the time, I just had dinner with parents and sometimes hang out with friends, watching a movie in cinema, playing some board games together, such as 'werewolves', a role playing game. Have you played this?" Li said. "Yeah, that was a lot fun, haha. I missed playing 'werewolves' with my friends. We spent such happy time playing 'werewolves' together. So there comes to the last question, and also the most important question I want to ask. What do you think this 'vacation' brought to you, or have it influenced your present college life?" I asked Li. "Indeed it brought to me a lot of things and influenced me a lot. First of all I think, I've become more healthy and sportive than before, since I did lots of exercise like swimming and playing tennis. You know what, during the high-school years, I could barely squeeze time to play sports or do exercise because of the heavy workload. So I think this long vacation helped me build a healthier body. Then for me mentally and psychologically, this vacation is a good transition from high school to university. It helped me better adjust to the college life. I mean, I do hate the education system and cramming method of teaching of my high school. I don't like the compulsive courses of my high school. And we just had little free time to do what we like. That is we could barely developed our own interests and displayed individuality. However, in the university I choose courses according to my interests. And I also have to plot out my free time properly in an attempt to improve my study efficiency. Moreover, I also decide to join what kinds of activities and arrange the events I will attend. So I just think that I would not have adjusted to the college as I do now if there was no such a half-year vacation, because I just don't know how to properly plan all the things by my own after being planned by others more than two years. So I think this vacation is very valuable and helpful to me." Li said a lot. And Amber added," And this vacation also allowed us to spend more time with our family, our parents we could spent more with our family, our parents. Since in high school we usually went to school at 7:30 AM and stayed there till 10:00PM, we had a very little time to be with our parents, to talk with them or dinner with them. However, during the vacation, our family just spent a lot of happy time together, such as traveling, do some outdoor activities together or just sitting together watching TV. And I think whatever we did, what really matters is I spent the time with my family." "Yes, I totally agree. It is very important for us to spend more time with our parents, especially before we will leave them to go to university abroad. We should cherish the time we can be with our family. Ok, good, these are all my interview questions. And it is really inspiring and happy to talk with you guys, because some friends of mine just feel negatively influenced by this half-year vacation, but you've brought me a totally different view regarding this 'vacation'. That allows me to view this 'vacation' from different angles and helps me better analyze this issue. I really appreciate your help. Thank you!" "You are welcome. We just tell you what we really think. And we are happy to share our experience with you. You are so cute, haha." They giggled and lightly touched my banged hair. Suddenly, the typical iphones' ringtone rang. And it was my phone. Then I answered the phone. And that conversation became my third interview. |
