How do you think of students who form their own bands in high school? Do you think they are crazy, indulgent, or even rebellious and counter-cultural? Have you ever thought their goal to form a rock band is to seek for stardom? Have you wondered what they could gain from playing music in their own rock band?
My second autoethnograpghy researches on and analyzes the teens who form their own rock bands in school. By interviewing with three of my friends who either had formed their own rock bands or plan to form, I want to explore more facts about them and this kind of phenomenon, thus revealing what they really are. Behind this seemingly unaddressed phenomenon, there are actually a lot of original and thoughtful ideas that I personally really value and respect. Hope you can also find something not only interesting but also informative at least. Two of my friends, a guy and a girl had already formed their own rock bands with their friends respectively in high school and both of them are singers in the bands. I've watched several of their bands' performance in school and also know well of their love for music as well as rock and roll. Generally, the stereotype people may hold for teenagers who form rock bands in high school is that they are crazy and indulgent. However, as I observed, they could be more descried as a group of people full of ideas, thoughts, passion and individuality. They just love music, love life and love freedom and they just do it. |
